Australia's fintech future
The coming together of financial services and technology is nothing new. It will come as no surprise to know institutions have been using technology to improve their middle and back offices for as long as computers have been around. We used to call this banktech.
In fact, banktech can be traced back to the 18th and 19th centuries when traders would use carrier pigeons to get an information advantage over their competition. Nowadays, banktech is more likely to refer to super computers running complex algorithms to process high speed trading. Fintech has become a catch-all term for technology associated with enabling the financial services industry. So, why the recent spike in interest?
Melissa also uses her unique, sometimes irreverent but always inspiring voice to speak and write about all things numbers, business, play with purpose and strategy. Her first book is the illustrated business book More Money for Shoes which compares building a business to building a wardrobe and shows you how to build a profitable, successful business. Her second book, Fabulous but Broke, is another illustrated book and uses financial fairy tales to challenge money messages that readers may have and question the notion that you need a fairy godmother or knight in shining armour to save you. Her latest book is Unf*ck your finances and kind of speaks for itself.
