ABOUT THE ADVISORY BOARD
The Western Sydney Small Business Expo advisory board assists in shaping the success and long-term goals of facilitating and connecting businesses in Western Sydney through this unique platform.
Lead Consultant – DEVTHA
Dyean is a chartered accountant, founder of DEVTHA consulting and mum to two boys. Dyean has lived and worked in Western Sydney for over 10 years.
Her 25 year career started at Deloitte in South Africa, providing tax and accounting services to SMEs. She later co-founded and led a national connected accounting firm here in Australia, providing advisory services to SMEs. Most recently, Dyean consulted to PwC in their midmarket, focusing on a digital experience for SMEs through PwC’s Next.
Dyean is a Board member of the Sydney Hills Business Chamber, a member of the management committee of the Toongabbie Legal Centre and a volunteer to the Cancer Council.
An early adopter of cloud technology, Dyean is a panelist, speaker and blogger on the digital transformation of the accounting industry. She is a growth strategist, currently consulting to start-ups taking product to market and large corporates on digital transformation.
Dyean has also has been listed in the global Top 50 Women in Accounting.
Senior Business Banking Manager – St.George BankMarbyn leads the St.George SME Banking team in Western Sydney, assisting businesses and business owners with their banking and finance needs. His experience in the industry spans 16 years, having held relationship management, strategy, project transformation and leadership roles with a large international bank prior to his current role with St.George. Raised, educated and now working as a professional in Western Sydney, Marbyn has a genuine passion for developing strong relationships with businesses, organisations and community groups that contribute to the significant growth and development of the region.
Managing Director – Foundational Business
Kerrie is the Managing Director of Foundational Business Pty Ltd, and has worked with micro and small business owners helping them grow their businesses for over 10 years as a business consultant, and now through the newly launched Foundational Business Centre.
Prior to starting her own business, her career in large corporates included senior management roles for PwC Australia, MCI Worldcom, AAPT and Optus.
Kerrie is passionate about business and community connection, she is actively involved in the Sydney Hills Business Chamber and local BNI groups, and serves on the board of charity organisations Men In Action Inc and Young Life Australia, and as chairperson of the Hills Mental Health Interagency.
Kerrie’s key business driver is to increase the effectiveness of small businesses, reducing the rate of failure by providing practical and achievable help to small business owners, to empower and equip them to succeed.
Sales and Marketing Manager – Gibson Shopfitters
Phil Saddleton is a people leader who has built successful teams across multiple industries in Australia and currently is Sales and Marketing Manager at Gibson Shopfitters. Phil’s career has spanned small businesses, dealer groups and corporate roles for ASX listed companies as well as International Multi-Nationals.
Phil is passionate about leadership, high level strategic planning and execution, career development and accountability of all staff. Phil has had great success developing direct reports with the right attitude into career professionals through mentoring, coaching and ongoing motivational career development.
Phil holds an MBA from Southern Cross University.
Founder – UploadOnce
Laura is a social entrepreneur with a passion for supporting the startup ecosystem deliver positive change. She founded award-winning platform, UploadOnce to realise her passion for delivering innovative solutions that enable businesses to better help people access services.
She also volunteers her time as advisory member of the Western Sydney Small Business Expo, Next Money Sydney meetups and participates in Techfugee Hackathons.
Laura’s corporate experience includes leading change programmes to help blue chip organisations like QBE and Westpac go digital and devising multicultural and international community engagement programs for NSW Justice, Western Union, Vodafone. She’s also played a key role in projects benefitting Western Sydney such as the relocation of the Justice Precinct to Parramatta and organising corporate sponsorship for community events such as the Ghana Jubilee, Diwali Festivals and Law Week.
PrincipalJohn Drury is a Business Mentor who works with busy high achievers (business owners and corporate executives) to assist them achieve sustainable business success AND create a great lifestyle for themselves and their family. John is also in demand as a keynote speaker, and is author of ‘INTEGRATE – why work-life balance is a myth and what you really need to create a fulfilling lifestyle’.
Katrina James has worked as a freelance photographer for 18 years photographing events around the world including in The USA, Germany and Australia. In 2015 she started the prographic and interview project The Westies, documenting residents of Western Sydney with the aim of changing the story of what it meant to be to be a Westie. The project has since developed into a Not For profit orgainsation, presenting Western Sydney in a positive light.
Q : When and where is WSSBE 2018?
WSSBE 2018 is on Wednesday the 8th August from 9am to 4pm. The expo will be held in the Grand Pavilion at Rosehill Gardens.
Q : Can I just attend the expo and not the speaker sessions?
If you want to attend just the expo we have an Expo Only ticket which provides access to the expo for $19 (plus booking fees).
Q : What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
Rosehill Gardens is situated approximately 10 minutes from the Parramatta CBD with free parking is available at the venue. Rosehill train station is located on the T6 Carlingford line. Q: What if I can no longer attend WSSBE?
All WSSBE tickets are non-refundable. The organisers reserve the right to cancel or change the event date, time, line up and venue as required. Alternative dates and times may be issued to ticket holders at the discretion and decision of the organisers.
